What is Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy?
Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy (PRYT) combines classical yoga postures and awareness techniques with elements of contemporary psychology. A hands-on healing modality, PRYT focuses on the body as the gateway to physical, mental and spiritual transformation. Through guided breathing and assisted yoga postures, you will move to the edge of deep physical sensation. Then, with awareness focused on your thoughts, feelings, images and sensations, Rachel will guide you into an internal dialogue about what's happening in your body and what this information holds for you.
This process creates the opportunity to:
• Release fears, anxieties and stress.
• Enhance body awareness, strength and flexibility.
• Alleviate pain caused by tensions, stiffness of joints, loss of mobility, etc.
• Facilitate problem-solving and decision-making.
• Gain clarity around life issues.
• Promote personal growth and an on-going transformation in body, mind and spirit.
• Bring about deep relaxation
About the One Day Workshop: Introduction to Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy
Saturday, January 23, 2-4pm
In this experiential workshop, Rachel will introduce you to the PRYT approach and guide you through a yoga-based mind-body experience. You will learn techniques to help you tap into the wisdom of your body and apply that wisdom to what is happening in your life. These practices, including imagery, body-centered awareness practices, breathwork and restorative asanas will help you deepen your personal yoga practice. (no prior yoga experience is necessary)
About the 6-Week Intensive: 7pm Mondays
Beginning February 1st, 7:15pm (90 minutes)
Our bodies are constantly speaking to us - offering information about our lives and the choices we make. Unfortunately, we don't always have the tools and resources we need to understand what our bodies are trying to tell us. When we hold postures for longer periods of time while integrating awareness practices, deep imagery and breathwork we are able to move into a deeper conversation with our bodies and our unconscious selves. In this six week intensive we will focus on different postures and themes, giving you an opportunity to learn more about what is happening in your body and how that connects to your everyday life. Ultimately, we are exploring how we can deepen our yoga practice so that it supports our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being.
If you have worked with Rachel in the past, you can expect a new experience. Please join us whether you are experienced in Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy or totally new to yoga.
About the Presenter: Rachel Posner M.A., is a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Practitioner, certified yoga instructor, and mentor. She has a Masters Degree in Counseling/Psychology with an emphasis in body-centered modalities. Rachel's yoga practice is informed by her belief that by deepening our relationship to our bodies, through awareness and active listening, we become more connected to and engaged with our core essence. As a teacher and mentor her greatest joy is to assist others in developing a practice that supports and guides the cultivation of a rich inner and outer life.
